Sitecore Commerce 10.3 support with SCIA

Sitecore Commerce 10.3 instance installed with SCIA:

Just key-in the site prefix of the original vanilla Sitecore SXA instance and Sitecore Complete Install Assistant automatically concatenates or auto-fills all other fields for you. Note that the solr url/location etc. is automatically filled based on the vanilla sitecore installation. The installer now supports installation of Sitecore Commerce 10.3 on Windows 11 Home OS.

Some background:

Sitecore Complete Install Assistant was originally created to forego the pain of filling PS Scripts mainly for Sitecore Commerce installation. That too in case of multiple Commerce instances, this becomes tough to manage.

For instance, details of a successful Commerce 10.3 installation:

OS: Windows 10/11 Home

RAM: 32 GB

PS Tasks: 181 compared to 212 in 10.0

Installation time: 45 minutes

Also, the script could fail anywhere among a list of 150+ tasks resulting in waste of developer time/productivity. With SCIA in place, the whole process is streamlined and becomes easier:

1. Click Download and install prerequisites (one-time for specific Sitecore version)

2. Enter site prefix and click install

The intent was to standardise the script with minimal input from the user like site prefix. Then, other parts of the script are auto-generated based on the prefix.

In short, it is an UI install assistant for Commerce installation. Currently supports installation of Sitecore 10.3 Commerce among others. Some of the features include:

1. Blank field check
2. Pre-filled settings form
3. Automatic field population / PS Script generation
4. Port Duplicates in current run
5. Check if a port is already in use by other instance
6. Check if Sitecore site is  pre-installed
7. Check if the Sitecore site pre-installed is SXA-enabled

Note that the SIF UI installer within SCIA by default supports SXA-enabled site installation.

SCIA Features

The UI is fairly intuitive providing all downloads / prerequisites - list / installation under one umbrella.

Since Commerce installation as such needs a specific setup structure.  One of SCIA features is Prerequisites checklist and automatic setup on button click:

Once PS script runs fine, if still the Sitecore default page is displayed in the storefront url then ensure that the hostname is correct as per this article

For instance, the hostname must match this field in the installer:

Note: all the above values are automatically concatenated and populated or auto-generated depending on type once site prefix is keyed-in.
