A sneak-peek at SCIA features: Part 1 : Auto-fill Fields based on Sitename Prefix

In this post about SCIA, let us  first check how concatenated values auto-fill the fields. We are just going to enter value in the Sitename prefix field and see how the application automatically fills values in rest of the fields. So, no more poring through powershell scripts to find and replace each and every value! Without much ado, let's take a quick look at this feature:

1. SCIA.exe must be copied over to the SIF.Sitecore.Commerce.5.0.49 folder, mine is located under C:\sitecore10\sitecore\Sitecore.Commerce.WDP.2020.08-6.0.238\SIF.Sitecore.Commerce.5.0.49 -

Note that the Sitecore Commerce 10 package and all pre-requisites needed for Sitecore Commerce 10 installation must be copied over here:

2. Right click SCIA.exe and "Run as Administrator", the screen loads with some defaults:

3. Enter a value - navantest10sxa in the sitename prefix field. Once you start entering the sitename prefix, the tool is intelligent enough to fill almost all the fields with concatenated values:

5. Let's traverse through different tabs to see the effect of the entry. The ones highlighted in yellow are concatenated values and ones in blue are default values.

Install Details tab:

6. DB Details tab:

Note that the ones encircled in blue are default values.

7. Sitecore tab:

8. Solr tab:

9. Redis tab:

10. Commerce tab:

11. Ports tab:

12. Environments tab:

13. Win User tab:

14. Braintree tab:

Note that all of these values can be overridden but its better to keep the pre-generated values as much for uniformity and smoothness of commerce Powershell installation.

In the next post, let us check the different validations offered by SCIA.
