Access Sitecore home page - The layout for the requested document was not found

This is a quite common error wherein you access the home page of your website and you get this page. 

Since this error is related to accessing the website root, first check the content tree as well as the showconfig.aspx, sites node:

If you cross-check the config settings and the content tree screen shots above, you should be quick to note that there is no node under sitecore/content/ named myprojectbase. 

Either I can set that content node in Sitecore or can completely remove the concerned patch. So, I decided to go with the latter and, disabled the concerned config:

 Refresh the showconfig.aspx page to see the config settings gone and most importantly, all nodes within sites available in the Sitecore content tree:
