Sitecore / SQL Server 2014 Startup issues

Go to the inetmgr virtual directory to browse the Sitecore site and the following error is displayed – 

Cross Check by opening SQL Server Management Studio and connecting to the same SQL Server DB as above. My DB runs on SQL Express and I get the same error as above:

Open SQL Server Configuration Manager -

If the SQL Server Configuration Manager menu item is not available as in the above screen shot, it will be available under Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2014 -> Configuration Tools

The SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service would be stopped -

Right Click and start the concerned service – 

Service started and Running –

Go back to the browser, access the page and the page must render now –
