Today's Overview - Sitecore Send
Sitecore Send or Moosend is another addition to the recent Sitecore composable Data Experience Platform transition. It integrates email marketing into the mix. Although I haven't used the product personally, based on my understanding, here are some of the interesting features:
a. Personal Email template library: Users/marketeers can design their own email templates and store them for future use/reference. This capability also opens up the option to view history of a design template.
b. Personalised emails: Like any other offering in the composable DXP landscape, personalization is a key here too. Although Moosend talks about personalization capabilities, if cdp is involved, it would be interesting to see how each platform will handle overlapping responsibilities. Data relevant to the customer has to be picked from a Customer Data Platform and presented as if the email is personally built for the individual customer. Api integration between cdp and send must be an interesting touch point in such a scenario.
c. E-commerce integration: Features like abandoned cart integration are very useful touch points. It will be interesting to explore and perform such integrations between OrderCloud and Send. Don't forget Discover here for ai-based algorithms related to merchandise marketing.
d. Image Picker: Image picker allows integration with external image libraries like Facebook , Instagram, Google drive to pick stock images. Would be interesting to integrate with content hub here.
e. Video addition: Emails can have videos as content to give a rich effect
f. Drag and drop: The marketeer doesn't seem to need any html experience since a template can be created with just drag-and-drop feature in place. Looks like conditional logic can be placed, similar to a designer-like editor.
g. Pre-existing templates: Templates for newsletter, email marketing would be present as part of the offering so that it is as easy as using an existing template. Will be interesting to perform a simple integration wherein a newsletter rendering utilises the Sitecore Send newsletter email template and sends the email!
h. Send-a-Test: I think this is a very useful feature first of all to check if all required aspects related to emailing are configured fine. Unsure if the offering will provide capability to check how emails will look in different devices but it will be nice to have such features
i. Countdown timer: This seems to be a good option to highlight offer availability period etc. to result in quicker conversions. Would be interesting to explore and see how this can integrate related to campaigns or limited offer scenarios.
j. Custom Fonts: Capability to add new fonts to use in templates specific for a business is a very useful option.
k. Campaign Scheduling: Should help with that odd-time mass-email scheduling for that Boxing day offer.
Irrespective of whether a website is commerece-based or just content-based, Sitecore Send is a vital component of the composable dxp landscape.
